FFV - Walkthrough - The Ancient Machine

Enemies Treasure Blue Magic
SandKiller (Wa), SandBear (Wa), SandBoil (Wa)

Town of Gorn (aka: Town of Ruins).

Walk straight up and you'll finally catch up with King Tycoon. You'll see him in the lower right hand corner of your screen, so follow him. He seems to want to play a little game of hide and seek before he leads you to save the Earth Crystal. You don't have any choice, you have to play his game.

From the entrance go to the house on the right, then go all the way to the house on the left. Go up and then head to the centre of town. Walk up the steps leading to the house in the centre and he should be there by now. (If he's not there, then keep looking for him around town, and then try again.) Reina calls out to her father, and so does Faris. As you approach the King, a trapdoor opens up and sends you plummeting to the murky depths.

The team lands safely in some wierd room, but Galuf is separated from them and Bartz has fainted from the fall. Reina, shocked at Faris' outburst, confronts her about her identity. Faris asks forgiveness, and the sisters embrace. Bartz manages to gather himself and wonders where the old coot is. Bartz decides, after not much thought at all, that it would be best to leave the scene. Galuf overhears everything and somehow makes it back into the main room.

Once you are situated follow the corridor to the left, and then head up through the door. Continue up and a pink light will transport you to some other place.

Airship Base

Enemies Treasure Blue Magic
Shuriken(2), Mini Missle

When you arrive, some strange lightning will destroy the teleporter that you just used and you're stuck for the time being. Meanwhile, Cid and Mid fly Boko2 back to the forest on Crescent Island. They decide to return him to the forest in keeping with Bartz's request.

Back with the heroes, Galuf explains what just happened. Faris ventures a guess that it broke because of its neglect for 500 years. Head to the right and then up the stairs and continue up to a room with two exits. Go down first. Go into the left door there, and head all the way down and try to push the switch there (the grey rectangle). It seems to be rusty, however, and it won't budge. Still, you manage to find some writing etched there on the wall. Follow the instructions by going to the middle room (rest if want), and check the flowers in the lower right corner to find a memo. The memo will lead you to the right room and the piece of paper on the right hand side of the table. The paper reads: "Made you Look!" Bartz has a small spasm. Faris finds another piece of paper that tells you to check the urn.

Go all the way back to the left room and check the left urn to make a frog jump out. The frog runs into a bookcase, which causes a book to fall. Read the book and follow the instructions there. Basically, it is just telling you to go back to the switch. This time you will pull the switch and the passage will open. Open those treasures and then rest for a while.

When you're ready, head back up and then hit the switch there. This will cause a rumbling and open the door for you. The rumbling is explained by the scene shift, where Cid and Mid fall through the ground, leaving a bewildered Boko2. Continue up and use the save point. Head to the right and down the steps to find some sort of ship. It's the Fire Ship!

NOTE: Now that you most likely have the Control ability, go down into the Fire Ship and find one of those Mottletrap enemies; you can make them use Missle on you. This Blue Magic is very nice to have as it shaves 3/4 of the total HP off of the target - sort of like a very powerful Demi (or maybe a precursor to Gravija?).

Head back up, and keep going left to find yet another ship which has propellers. Cid and Mid fall from above. Bartz and Mid figure out from sharing info where they are. Cid is busy inspecting this new toy unnoticed, and he heads down below deck. Mid follows him, so follow their lead. You find Cid and Mid in some sort of engine room, engrossed in this discovery and cannot be bothered. Cid fixes something and the ship suddenly lurches into the air. Cid explains that this is an airship. As soon as the aiship rises it sinks - the culprit turns out to be a monster, and not a very strong one at that.

BOSS 13: Clay Claw Level 20-21
ScreenshotSince the Clay Claw is weak against bolt, you should hammer him with such attacks. Bolt2, Bolt2 Sword, LgtningSkills, and the Lightning Bow will take care of him quickly enough. You can steal a Coral Sword from the beast if you don't already have one.

It pays to be cautious with the Claw because he has some strong attacks: His Tail Screw will take the target down to critical HP, so be quick with the Cure2 here. If you really want to punish the Claw, you can use those two Shurikens you found earlier to kill him very quickly. You should get an Ice Bow after the fight.

Screenshot Once you've taken care of the pest problem, Cid will park the airship back in the hangar. The Claw seems to have caused some damage, but Cid says that he can easily fix the damage with parts from the Fire Ship. Once the repair is completed, Cid and Mid say that they will continue to investigate the Earth Crystal's location here, amid the Ronka Ruins. It is up to the group to look elsewhere for it.

After some encouraging words from your teammates, you take off in your new airship. Enjoy flying around a little bit and listening to the airship theme.
